I was born in Hanoi in 1989. I
lived one minute away from Hoan Kiem Lake & the Old Quarter for the first
18 years of my life and always considered myself a typical Hanoi girl. Growing
up I was just an average teenager wanting to become somebody else but me. I did
good in class and had some great friends, other than that, I never had a chance
to get out of my shell to do something special.
Everything changed when high
school started. I was lucky to be surrounded by an awesome group of new
friends. We clicked right away and did so many (in fact, too many) activities
together: English contests, dance camps, school plays, skipping class,
sleepovers... Then with these amazing friends I discovered a whole new
dimension to life that is exciting, challenging and meaningful: Dancing.
As soon as I started training briefly in Hip Hop
and Ballroom Latin at the age of 16, I fell in love with dancing. I gained my
first medals as the leader of Viet Duc DanceSport formation team and began my
competitive journey in 2006. After finishing high school, I attended University
of Salford (UK), where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in
hospitality and tourism management.
During the time in England, I had the opportunities
to attend Blackpool congress, Blackpool Dance Festival and Imperial
Championships. The dream of watching my idol dancers in person was
fulfilled. That was when I realised my love for dancing would
never fade away no matter what would happen in life. My love and
dedication to competitive ballroom dancing continued to grow as I became
finalist and medalist of several DanceSport competitions in Vietnam from 2008
to 2011. Since 2014, I been training in other dance genres such as contemporary
(improvisation and choreography), jazz funk and basic ballet. I have developed
my individual style of Latin Fusion, currently teaching a beginner class at
Unison Dance Studio (Hanoi).
As a versatile and creative artist, I am able of do
well in different roles such as performer, event organiser, dance instructor,
model for photo & video shooting. When dancing she often
loves to experiment with different facets of emotions and new ways of using
body movements. In life, I am an enthusiastic, reliable,
self-motivated individual, who is always full of positive energy and loves
seeking new opportunities and challenges.
June 2013, I took part in So You Think You Can Dance season 2 (Vietnamese version) and lucky to have made it to top 100. That was, up to that moment the best experience I ever had in my life. After that unforgettable week in Saigon, I realised that my place is not in an office all day long.
August 2015, I once again made it
all the way to top 38 of So You Think You Can Dance season 4 just before the
final cut for live shows. I walked the "green mile" and never looked
back as I was dancing my heart out through out the competition despite my ACL
injury at that time.
With love,
HHP
